Most helpful customer reviews on Amazon. As an avid 5K runner but certainly Verified Purchase. This is a great book! It is a high quality book with tons of different programs and pace charts. Chapters discuss topics such as: health information, equipment, the run-walk-run method which, it should be noted, is the hallmark of his method , using the Magic Mile to help estimate the appropriate race pace, programs "to finish" and programs for time goals, drills, speed training, race day timetables, running from, incorporating walking, using running to reduce body fat, nutrition information, and cross-training.

A marathon approach for walkers and runners that has plans for frequent runners, those trying to get back in shape, and those just looking to complete the marathon distance. An original classic, proving to everyday runners that they can use the same training principles employed by elite runners for success. A great reference for beginning runners.
